About me...
Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Gretchen Patty and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year. This is my first year teaching at Circle Oil Hill Elementary and I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing school. I am a graduate of Baker University. My husband, Jason, and I have four children who attend schools in the Circle District. When I am not working in the classroom or driving my kids to all of their activities and sports, I enjoy reading and writing in my spare time.
Social Studies
In 5th grade, we will study the Building of a Nation. From ancient America to the Reconstruction, we will explore how our great nation came to be!
Reading / Language Arts
In reading, we will follow the short stories provided in the Treasures Reading Curriculum along with two novel studies. We will read Sing of the Beaver in the fall and Woods Runner in the Spring.
Along with the 5th grade writing curriculum, students will receive a writing prompt at the beginning of every week in which they are expected to write at least five sentences.
